“I’m fine, really,” Angela said. “I just want to go home.”

“Well, I can’t force you to stay,” Leeds said. “I’ll just have to get you to sign a waiver before you go, if you’re sure.”

“I’m sure,” Angela said.

“Okay, then, I’ll go get the paperwork ready,” Leeds said. She nodded to Hassan. “Come on, Doc, let’s give the girls some privacy.”

She turned and stepped out the door. Hassan followed.

“I swear, you bring me nothing but trouble,” Leeds said with a laugh as the door swung shut.

“I knew you could handle it,” Hassan replied.

Angela listened to their voices receding down the hallway before finally swinging her legs over the edge of the bed. Genesis handed Angela a plastic bag and pulled up a chair.

“They had to cut you out of your shirts,” Genesis said. “Luckily I had a spare in the car.”

Angela opened the bag. Inside, she found her pants, her underwear, and the contents of her pockets. She also found one of Genesis’s black tank tops.

“I’ll take you right home when you’re ready,” Genesis said.

“Thanks,” Angela said, standing.

She turned her back on Genesis and got dressed. The top was a bit too tight and it left her bra straps showing, but it was better than nothing.

“You okay back there?” Angela asked. “I haven’t heard a single wolf whistle or lewd comment this entire time.”

She glanced back over her shoulder. Genesis was leaning forward in her chair, clutching her head in her hands. Angela turned to face her.

“What’s wrong?” she asked.

“It’s nothing,” Genesis replied. “I just… I thought you were dying. You were lying there and there was all this blood and you weren’t moving and….”

Shh,” Angela said, rubbing Genesis’s back.

“I know it’s stupid,” Genesis said. “I know I should just be happy that you’re okay. But I can’t get that image out of my head. It feels almost as real as you standing in front of me now.”
