“That… sounds awkward,” Frederica said.

“Oh, it absolutely was,” Molly said. “Plus you have no idea how hard it was to find someone who could make functional body armor for a six-inch-tall woman.”

Frederica chuckled.

“So, uh, how do we change back?” she asked.

A deep groan pierced the air as Melody sat up on the couch. She rubbed her eyes and peered down at Frederica and Molly. Frederica waved awkwardly. Melody waved back.

“Am I asleep?” she asked, her voice booming like thunder.

Molly extended a hand to Frederica.

“Here, let me help,” she said.

Frederica took Molly’s hand and Molly began to grow. Frederica felt her own body begin to expand. It was alarming at first but when she relaxed into it, she found herself quickly returning to normal size.

“Okay, what was that?” Melody asked.

“I’ll explain later,” Frederica replied, and turned to Molly. “Follow me.”

She led Molly upstairs and knocked on Nila’s door.

“Yeah?” came the reply.

“There’s someone here about the rat,” Frederica said. “You decent?”

“Give me a second,” Nila said.

A rustling of fabric, then the door opened. Nila looked exhausted, eyes ringed with dark shadows. Behind her, the bedroom had been meticulously cleaned. She looked up at Molly and blinked.

“You’re tall,” Nila muttered.

“Sometimes,” Molly replied, winking at Frederica.

“Um, okay,” Nila said. “Well, come on in. I’ll show you where I saw it.”

“I’m going to grab some breakfast,” Frederica said. “Give me a shout if you need anything.”

“Will do,” Molly said.

Frederica headed back downstairs. Down the hall, her bedroom door opened and Josephine staggered out.
